SUSTAINABLE URBAN PLANNING & DESIGN
about
MVW IS A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CONSULTANCY THAT SPECIALISES IN SUSTAINABLE URBAN PLANNING AND SERVICE PROVISION.
We live a complex age in which towns and cities are now the home for a majority of the world’s population. These urban areas are being shaped by new challenges, including climate change, with its attendant extremes of drought, floods and heat, and post-Covid changes such as work-from-home.
Within cities up to 70% of carbon emissions are generated from structures. Buildings are occupied by people, equipment and machinery, and need to be energised, lit, cooled and heated.
Cities are shaped by two evolutionary trends. Firstly, the rapid development of technology relating to principal urban services – energy and water provision, wastewater and solid waste disposal and transportation. Secondly, by slow and incremental changes in built form and land conversion as buildings, roads and hard surfaces endure for decades.
Many disciplines are now involved in shaping these trends. MVW brings a multi-disciplinary perspective and long experience to the challenges of selecting from an array of methodologies and technologies and navigating new regulations, to achieve meaningful solutions.
MVW provides services ranging from high-level coordination and guidance to professional teams to mid-level planning and management to detailed design-level inputs. We have long experience in shaping diverse teams including architects, planners, engineers, lawyers, environmental and other specialists to the requirements of specific projects.
