Located on a peninsula at the confluence of the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea this new economic city has tourism and recreation as one of the key economic pillars that will give the new community its viability establishing it as a desirable place to visit, live and work in.
The international destination of Sharm el Sheikh is a short distance across the Straight of Tiran from this new city which in addition to tourism and recreation will have several complimentary economic pillars organized along a central spine with residential neighborhoods.

This strategic master plan for the island nation was developed over twenty years focusing on seven key initiatives all within an island-wide framework of open space and targeted development areas. The concept was to improve the visitor offering and consequently increase the length of stay, rather than increase bed capacity and more visitors.
The standard of living for residents was raised to be one of the highest within the Caribbean region, in part due to this planning process and strategic integrated initiatives.

Working on behalf of several NGO’s, senior RMW staff developed a regional development and preservation plan that established the spatial framework for public and private investment around the largest and deepest fresh water lake that never freezes, even in the harshest of winters. This remarkable body of water and its surrounding watershed contain one of the worlds most interesting natural setting and range of human settlements.
